National targets contributing to the achievement of Goal A include:
- Maintaining, enhancing and restoring the integrity, connectivity and resilience of all ecosystems through the spatial planning of area of biodiversity value (National target VN1) and the restoration of degraded natural ecosystems (VN2);
- Increasing the area of natural ecosystems by expanding and improving management effectiveness of natural heritage sites, protected areas, biodiversity corridors, natural areas of national and international importance, and the application of other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) (VN3);
- Halting the extinction of known threatened species, reducing the risk to biodiversity, improving the population status of priority wild species, and conserving genetic diversity through integrated in situ and ex situ conservation, species recovery programmes, and genetic resource conservation (VN4 and VN7).
