The target aims to maintain the integrity, connectivity of ecosystems and to conserve their biodiversity values through spatial planning of the special use forest system, which covers all elements of GBF Target 1. Specifically, in the process of establishing PAs, Vietnam recognizes and respects the rights of indigenous people and local communities, as well as their traditional knowledge related to their lands and natural resources.
