Jordan’s national targets address several core components of GBF Target 21, particularly those related to improving biodiversity information systems, enhancing data availability, and establishing structured mechanisms for biodiversity knowledge management. The national target on establishing a National Biodiversity Information and Knowledge Management System directly contributes to strengthening national capacity for data collection, storage, accessibility, and use in decision-making, which is central to the global target.

However, several critical elements of the global target remain insufficiently addressed. The national targets do not specify measures to ensure interoperability with global biodiversity information platforms, nor do they address the requirements for open access, standardized metadata, or real-time data sharing. There is also no reference to strengthening statistical systems, mobilizing traditional knowledge, or improving national capacity for monitoring GBF indicators. These gaps mean that Jordan’s national targets only partially reflect the full scope and ambition of GBF Target 21.
