By 2030, pollutant pressures on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems are substantially reduced to levels that are not detrimental to ecosystem function and biodiversity, with effective measures in place to mitigate cumulative effects of pollution (nutrients, pesticides and other hazardous chemicals), and plastic pollution.
Policy: Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan (2024–2033)
Actions: Cambodia will minimize climate change impacts on biodiversity by scaling nature-based solutions and ecosystem-based adaptation in forests, floodplains, mangroves and coastal systems. Climate risk will be integrated into conservation planning, spatial zoning and site management. Restoration and watershed protection will strengthen ecosystem resilience and disaster risk reduction. Biodiversity and climate monitoring systems will be aligned through CEMIS and national MRV frameworks. Coordination across environment, water and agriculture sectors will ensure mitigation and adaptation measures deliver biodiversity co-benefits and community resilience.

GBF-T08. Minimize impacts of climate change and ocean acidification including through nature-based solutions and/or ecosystem-based approaches GBF-T08. Minimize impacts of climate change and ocean acidification including through nature-based solutions and/or ecosystem-based approachesMinimize the impact of climate change and ocean acidification on biodiversity and increase its resilience through mitigation, adaptation, and disaster risk reduction actions, including through nature-based solution and/or ecosystem-based approaches, while minimizing negative and fostering positive impacts of climate action on biodiversity. | High |
The target embeds ecosystem-based adaptation and nature-based solutions as primary strategies for reducing climate impacts on biodiversity while also contributing to risk reduction and development resilience. Actions emphasise institutional collaboration across climate and biodiversity portfolios and integration into planning, which is essential for coherence with climate commitments. The reliance on scalable NbS also makes finance mobilisation and long-term (intergenerational) benefits an explicit implementation logic.
Aligned through NbS/EbA, mitigation and adaptation, DRR (GBF is explicit on minimizing climate impacts on biodiversity).
to be analyzed if we need to have additional means of implementation
