Target 7: By 2030, significantly reduce pollution levels and the negative impacts of pollution from all sources to levels that are not harmful to biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services, considering cumulative effects and the ecosystems' capacity to absorb biodegradable pollutants. Achieve a 20% reduction in the use of agricultural chemicals and pesticides, and achieve 70% in recycling, reuse, and reduction of plastic waste by 2050
Achieving this target will involve an array of strategic activities mainly:
Develop effective national waste management plans to minimize hazardous effluents from industrial activities.

GBF-T07. Pollution reduced, halving nutrient loss and pesticide risk GBF-T07. Pollution reduced, halving nutrient loss and pesticide riskReduce pollution risks and the negative impact of pollution from all sources, by 2030, to levels that are not harmful to biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services, considering cumulative effects, including: reducing excess nutrients lost to the environment by at least half including through more efficient nutrient cycling and use; reducing the overall risk from pesticides and highly hazardous chemicals by at least half including through integrated pest management, based on science, taking into account food security and livelihoods; and also preventing, reducing, and working towards eliminating plastic pollution. | High |
GBF-T02. 30% of degraded areas are under effective restoration GBF-T02. 30% of degraded areas are under effective restorationEnsure that by 2030 at least 30 per cent of areas of degraded terrestrial, inland water, and coastal and marine ecosystems are under effective restoration, in order to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services, ecological integrity and connectivity. | Medium |

- Promoting a holistic approach that involves all relevant stakeholders in pollution reduction activities.
By considering these aspects, the implementation of Target 7 can be more comprehensive, inclusive, and effective in reducing pollution levels, thereby protecting biodiversity and supporting sustainable development.
This national target aims at minimizing, preventing, and controlling pollution levels in ecosystems to ensure that there is an optimal flow of ecosystem services
- Importers’ commitment to standards for importing chemical pesticides.
Achieving this target will require financial resources to monitor the level of pollution in coastal and freshwater bodies, promote reuse, and recycling, and reduce waste
At the moment there are no means of implementing the activities and local budget available.
