The Program on Biological Diversity for the years 2026-2030 is developed with a view to implementing the Environmental Strategy for the years 2024-2030, approved by Government Decision No. 409/20241, and contributes to the achievement of General Objective 5 "Protecting, restoring and promoting the sustainable use of biodiversity and natural ecosystems".
The Program is developed in accordance with the national policy framework on economic development and environmental protection, being aligned with the strategic directions established by the main national planning documents and sectoral policies related to environmental protection, agriculture, forestry, climate change, regional development and green economy, ensuring coherence between national priorities and international commitments in nature conservation. The Program implements the obligations assumed by the Republic of Moldova under the Convention on Biological Diversity (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), as well as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KGBKM), adopted at the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), thus contributing to the achievement of the four global goals and 23 targets set for 2030.
